Turks Posted Image The Turks (タークス, Tākusu) is the unofficial nickname of the Investigation Sector of the General Affairs Department of the Shinra Electric Power Company. They work inside the Department of Public Safety under Heidegger. The Turks perform black ops on behalf of the corporation, including kidnappings and assassinations. One of their main functions is to "recruit" SOLDIER candidates by force. All Turks, even female members, wear navy blue or black business suits and ties. The Turks were originally led by Veld, with Tseng below him. Along with veterans such as Reno and Rude, the rest were made up of eight unknown rookies. These rookies fight AVALANCHE a powerful eco-terrorist organization bent on destroying Shinra. At one point, President Shinra replaces Veld with Heidegger as the commander of the Turks, to disastrous results. Veld uses blackmail on President Shinra to make him return the Turks to his command. During the battles, Veld discovers that the AVALANCHE leader is actually his daughter, Elfé, now twisted by her evil scientist lieutenant, Fuhito. To save Elfé from the ancient summon inside her, Zirconiade the player Turks defect from Shinra using Rufus Shinra, as leverage to stay safe. Even so, President Shinra orders Scarlet to kill off the Turks. Despite the threats from both Shinra and AVALANCHE, the Turks succeed in stopping Fuhito and destroying Zirconiade. Afterwards, Veld and his daughter, along with the player Turks disappear. Tseng reports that he "assassinated" them all, which allows him to become the new leader of the Turks. During the same time as the war with AVALANCHE, a few Turks are also ordered to aid in the battle against the defector SOLDIER Genesis Rhapsodos. Tseng aids Zack Fair in a mission to Genesis's hometown of Banora Village to investigate the disappearance of two unnamed Turk operatives. They are found dead and buried. Tseng also accompanies Zack on a mission to Modeoheim. During the attack on Midgar Sector 8 Reno and "Shuriken", now known as Cissnei are sent out to fight. During the fighting, Zack Fair saves Cissnei from Genesis Copies, and the two become friends. Cissnei was also ordered to survey Zack after his mentor, Angeal, was killed. Zack was later pronounced to be Killed In Action. Edited by Cloud, Sep 3 2009, 02:00 PM.

Tseng Posted Image Tseng (ツォン, Tson) is the stern, no-nonsense, and sometimes temperamental leader of the Turks. He has long, black hair and what appears to be a bindi in the middle of his forehead. He has known Aerith Gainsborough since she was a child and has special feelings for her, thus never completing his long-delayed mission to bring her to Shinra. He feels that she is the savior of the world thanks to her Cetra powers, and thus should only come in on her own will. There is little else on file about Tseng. |

Reno Posted Image "Looks like today we're clockin' out early." —-Reno Reno (レノ, Reno) is a prominent member of the Turks. He has a lanky physique, unkempt red hair terminating in a long ponytail, and two symmetrical red marks on his cheek bones (apparently tattoos). He wears goggles, pushed up onto his forehead, an unbuttoned suit jacket, and an untucked dress shirt. He is cocky, cynical and somewhat lazy. While he is very competent on the job, Reno treats his job as a Turk as nothing more than a job and shows little interest in pursuing Shinra's goals when off-duty. In battle, he wields an Electro-Mag Rod, a nightstick with a taser on one end. Reno also has a penchant for gossiping and is a competent helicopter pilot. There is nothing more on Reno... |

Rude Posted Image Rude (ルード Rūdo) is a member of the Turks. He is a tall, bald man with a little goatee. He always wears sunglasses and appears to carry spares on him in case something happens to the pair he is wearing. Rude is rarely seen without his long-time partner Reno and is rather quiet and taciturn, tending to relegate the talking to Reno. Rude is a superb physical fighter and prefers to use his fists in battle. Years ago, when there was war between AVALANCHE and Shinra, Rude fell in love with a woman named Chelsea. Unfortunately, she was an AVALANCHE spy who grew infatuated with Rude, but left him because they were on different sides. Rude did not take well to her departure, since he could not even say goodbye to her. |

Cissnei Posted Image "When I was a kid, I always wanted to have wings. You know, like an angel." —Cissnei Cissnei (シスネ, Shisune) (not her real name) was a member of the Turks. According to records, her real name is Shuriken but for her own reasons she went by Cissnei. Cissnei is warm-hearted and has a mothering side which can border on bossy, which often manifests in how she looks after her colleagues. Originally living in an orphanage, she was chosen for the Turks after her latent potential was recognized, and as a member of the Turks, she has received a strict training and education since she was young. In the history of the Turks she is the youngest person to join, a record that currently remains unbroken. Cissnei uses a large crimson shuriken called "Rekka" as her weapon of choice. Still a member of the Turks, Cissnei continues to stay loyal to them. She makes her first appearance in Midgar during an attack on the Mako-rich city is launched by Genesis Clones, along with Reno, Rude, and Tseng. Soon after her first meeting with Zack, she would face off against a Genesis Copy. Zack enters and defeats the Copy before it had any chance to finish Cissnei off. She reveals to Zack that when she was little, she wanted to have wings, and that they symbolize freedom, not monsters. She would not be seen until later She later appears in Costa del Sol on vacation with Zack after defeating Genesis. It would be cut short due to the Genesis Copies appearing and attacking cities. This would also include Junon. When she arrives with both Zack and Tseng, total chaos surrounds them. she and Tseng leave Zack to deal with the Copies whilst they moved to a higher level. Zack could eventually find Cissnei, and discover that he has a Fanclub. It would turn out that she is a member, due to her providing information under a code name in the club "Black Suit". Note: Shin-Ra organized fan-clubs for their popular members of SOLDIER so that the draw for being in SOLDIER was greater to the public eye. Records show no more information on her... |

Vincent Valentine Posted Image "That was my sin, and this...this is my punishment." —Vincent, referring to his inability to stop the Jenova Project. Vincent was once a member of the Turks, then known as Shinra "Department of Administrative Research." When he was assigned to supervise the Jenova Project in Nibelheim, he fell in love with a scientist named Lucrecia Crescent, an assistant to Gast Faremis. When he discovered her link to his deceased father, Lucrecia fled from Vincent, ultimately entering a relationship with her associate Professor Hojo instead. Lucrecia became pregnant afterwards, and Hojo planned to use the fetus as a test subject for the Jenova Project. Vincent objected to the use of humans - especially Lucrecia - as test subjects. Even so, in the interest of science, Lucrecia proceeded with the treatment and became very sick as a result. Outraged, Vincent confronted Hojo in the Shinra Mansion's underground laboratory and a heated argument ensued. Hojo ended it with treachery, pulling a gun from his lab coat and shooting Vincent in the stomach. He proceeded to use Vincent's half-dead body as the subject for experiments involving metamorphosis, enabling the body to transform into various monstrous forms. Vincent awakened on the operating table - Hojo nowhere in sight - and responded to his modified body with both anguish and rage. Believing himself responsible for Lucrecia's illness after Sephiroth's birth, he locked himself inside a coffin in the basement of Nibelheim's Shinra Mansion, where he slept mostly undisturbed for 28 years to atone for his "sins". He constantly relived his "nightmare" for these years as a punishment for his inability to stop Lucrecia from submitting to Hojo's experiment on her unborn baby. During the Acalanche War Verdot searched for the Support Materia for the Summon Zirconiade at the Shinra Mansion. While searching, Verdot awakened Vincent inside his coffin. Despite the differences in their physical appearance, Vincent and Verdot knew each other when they were with the Turks. When he woke up, Vincent helped the Turks fight AVALANCHE, and displays sharp shooting skills, though he is rather jaded after his long sleep. It would turn out that the Materia was hidden inside the mansion and he knew of its existence. He gave it to Verdot before he returned to his rest once more, refusing to leave with the Turks. Apocalypse (Lv4)

Veld Posted Image The overall leader of the Turks. Veld gets his orders directly from President Shinra and passes them on to Tseng, who then delegates orders to the subordinate Turks. It was Veld who made the Turks into the professional, elite group they are today. He can come off as intimidating, and even cold – his standard of what constitutes a well-executed mission is markedly more stringent than the evaluation criteria Tseng uses, and he will not hesitate to deal out appropriate consequences when the occasion calls for it. It was he that instituted the mission evaluation system – all Turks are evaluated based on every mission they undertake, with consequences for Turks that don't get their act together. Veld's devotion to his Turks is absolute. When the Turks are placed under the leadership of Heidegger, Veld makes a deal with (blackmails) President Shinra in order to save them from annihilation at the hands of AVALANCHE. A large condition of this deal stipulates that if Veld displeases President Shinra again, his life is forfeit. When the Turks are ordered to carry the victims of the Nibelheim accident to the Shin-Ra mansion so Hojo can perform experiments on them, he takes the entire duty upon himself, so that his subordinates needn't get tangled up in such a dirty operation. The reason for Veld's protective attitude toward the Turks is revealed to a select few: he was indirectly responsible for his family's death in Kalm. After the loss of his wife and daughter, he buried himself in his work and fell back on the Turks, who became the family he no longer had. However, it is discovered that his daughter Falicia is the leader of AVALANCHE under the name of Elfe, though she appears to have lost her memories after the fire. Veld defected from the Turks, under heavy prompting by the Turks, to go search for her after she escapes. He is now considered a traitor to Shinra. Rosalind/Gun Posted Image A young woman born in the Midgar slums, Rosalind (codename Gun) is a stern, serious sort of person. She entered the Shin-Ra Military School where her father is an instructor. Rumor has it that her entry was influenced by him, though it has not been confirmed whether he had any direct bearing on the decision for her entry. Under the stern tutelage of her father, Rosalind flourished, becoming a top marksman, even surpassing the very man who had taught her. She graduated with honors at the top of her year, and was recruited into the Turks immediately afterwards. Her skill with guns and her steadfast personality have gained her Tseng’s absolute trust. She is loyal; she will stick by her comrades in a fight, and betrayal is an alien concept to her. The one flaw in Rosalind’s personality lies in her seriousness. She is a person that sees the world in a linear fashion, and any deviation from that perception of the world is not welcome to her. Others may have accused her of being rigid in her thinking, for she will often get an idea and refuse to budge from it if she thinks she is right. It is believed that the relationship between Rosalind and her father is more professional rather than father-daughter like. She is polite and formal with everyone she meets, the only exception being St. Andrew. She also appears to have a strained relationship with her younger sister Elena who is presently head of class in the Shinra Academy. St. Andrew/Rod Posted Image St. Andrew (codename Rod) is a rather brash, proud young man who’s weapon of choice is the EMR. An ex-gang leader, he spent his time getting into turf wars with other gangs and running about on various stolen motorbikes. Made the leader of his gang at the age of 18, Andrew’s towering self-confidence allowed the members of his gang to place full and complete trust in their young leader. Having come so far in his short life and never knowing the taste of defeat he lived life with the certainty that nothing could possibly take him down. It was that sense of overweening pride that prompted him to test out his skills by trying to steal a motorbike from the Turks. He was however caught in the act by Reno. In the rather brutal fight that ensued in his attempted escape from the Shin-Ra building, he realized that perhaps he wasn’t the big shot that he thought he was. He quickly realized that if he wanted to become the best, he’d have to work with the best and accepted the offer of employment with the Turks. He now has his sights set on becoming the best there is in that small group, and has aspirations for leadership. Andrew was born in Midgar above the plate, and is an expert in maintenance and repair of motorcycles. He is also viewed as an excellent driver. He is informal around most people, but seems to be especially relaxed around Reno and Rude, despite them both being his superiors. It also appears that he is not fond of snow. Samantha/Shotgun Posted Image Samantha (codename Shotgun) is a hunter who has been raised in Mideel. The (presumably) only daughter of a well to do family, she is the epitome of genteel breeding, and has developed a taste for particular hobbies that accord with that breeding. Her love for hunting was instilled in her at a young age, and her skill in that area – and her expertise with the shotgun in particular – what was caught the attention of the people that recruited her into the Turks. Samantha is a fan of big game hunting, and it shows in her work as well. While big missions incite a certain zealous enthusiasm in her, the smaller missions don’t really hold her interest. Samantha is a rather flashy person with a flair for the melodramatic. She has a firm grasp of who she is and is confident in what she can do. Rafe/Two Guns Posted Image Rafe (codename Two Guns) is a former bodyguard to Don Corneo. He’s a fast and accurate shot with a gun, and is something of a legend in the world he inhabited. It was said that by the time you looked upon his guns, you were already dead. Rafe eventually grew tired of the world he was working in; more to the point, he was tired of the politics that overran the scene in Wall Market and decided he wanted out. It was around that time that he got an offer from the Turks. Knowing that his dissatisfaction with his situation wasn’t likely to go away, and that his defection would not be kindly looked upon by the Don and his cohorts, he accepted, leaving the world below the plate and its intrigues behind. Cool headed and a consummate professional, he carries out his orders, and he carries them out well. There is only one major flaw Rafe has. He has spent almost his whole life under the plate, and quite a bit of time in the Don’s employment. As a result, he is used to doing things a certain way. He often comes to loggerheads while on his missions because he now has protocol to follow, and team members he has to work in tandem with. This is something that he has to get used to if he is to succeed in a formal working environment, especially one like the Turks, where the ability to follow orders and do things exactly the way Veld and Tseng want them done is paramount to his survival. Cyr/Martial Arts F Posted Image Cyr (codenames: Martial Arts F, Yuuko) is a mercenary hailing from Icicle, recruited into the Turks when Veld decides that they are lacking the required manpower to deal with AVALANCHE. As a mercenary, Cyr has seen a lot of battle, and is certainly used to taking orders, so her adjustment into the Turks is easier than it has been for some. A thoroughly businesslike woman on a mission, she gets her work done with a minimum of fuss. She is level headed, alert and perceptive, and is able to assess a situation and take the most prudent course of action. She uses a special kind of attack style that involves twisting herself in the air mid-jump and kicking out at her opponents. When she executes the attack just right, she can run through a series of attacks in succession, leaving her opponents dazed and often incapacitated. Also, due to spending so much time as a mercenary, Cyr is used to being ‘one of the guys,’ but retains her femininity. Durman/Martial Arts M Posted Image Durman (codename Martial Arts M) was introduced when the Shin-Ra executive decided that more Turks were needed to deal with the increasingly volatile situation that AVALANCHE presented. He is an ex-detective from Costa del Sol, where he solved some rather complicated cases. A passionate, hot blooded and courageous man, he puts his all into everything he does – a trait that carries through to his personal as well as professional life. His tendency to rely on his emotions eventually got the better of Durman. He got himself into trouble, presumably in the course of his work and, finding no way out, took the job offered to him by the Turks who had been recruiting him for some time. He is very strong physically, but because of this he also seems to be slow in movement, making him less of a preference to missions requiring speed and stelth. He is also a gentleman to all women, causing a sort of awkward relationship between him and Cyr. Adrian/Katana Posted Image Adrian (codename Katana) had something of a reputation in his hometown, Gongaga. When he was younger, a friend of his was kidnapped. To get him back, Adrian went to rescue him alone. The story has it that Adrian arrived at the place his friend was being held, and single-handedly defeated all the operatives in the area. Adrian himself was put into prison. His only way out came from the Turks, who recruited him, telling him that he would be free to leave if he would offer his formidable talent to their service. He did, and has been with the Turks for many years. Compared with most of the other Turks, he is a senior officer. Lisa/Knife Posted Image Lisa (codename Knife) hails from the mining town of Corel. Having lost her family while she was still very young, she grew up by herself. Perhaps the grim life she's lead has influenced her personality, which tends to be rather frank; she doesn't dance around a topic, choosing to attack it head on. Faced with a bleak reality, one gets the impression that she didn't really have the luxury of being anything but straightforward. Despite all this, she is a pretty cheerful person. She's pretty good at her job, though she is on occasion clumsy. By and large, though, her aim is unerring and her knives always stay sharp. James/Nunchuk Posted Image James (codename Nunchuk) was born in Bone Village, the pampered son of a wealthy household. All his life, his every whim was answered, his every wish granted. It was a safe, sheltered life James lead, and it wasn't enough. One day he decided that he wanted to stand up for himself, to discover life on his own terms, and so he joined the Turks, which he had admired for a long time. Bright, cheerful and optimistic, James doesn't let much get him down. Unlike Rafe, who keeps to himself and isn't likely to talk much, James loves to talk. He seems to get along well with pretty much all of his co-workers, and perhaps this is because his personality is so naturally disarming. James uses the nunchak as his primary weapon. Arthur/Legend Posted Image As his codename suggests, Arthur is a legend amongst his fellow Turks. A man with intensive battle experience, he played a large role during the war with Wutai. What happened there is a mystery, though, because soon after his last battle, he was placed under a kind of house arrest by Shin-Ra and spent the remainder of the war in Costa del Sol. The so-called imprisonment doesn't seem to have bothered him, as he spent a lot of his free time getting to know the ladies of the resort town. There is a complex relationship between Legend and Tseng, though what happened between them to warrant Tseng's opinion of him is at the current time unknown. What we do know is that Legend was Tseng's mentor, one of the people who taught Tseng what he knows today. Legend uses bombs as his primary weapon, though he is versed in other forms of combat as well. He hails from Junon. -Information in this post provided by Dark Angel and edited by Angeles.
