Map And Traveling Rules

Your character generally wouldn't know about all of this, so just because you know it, doesn't mean the character will. Let's get the Astrix cases out of the way. Did you see numbers with "*" next to them on the map? Good. Look below to find out what they mean.

  • 1* Zolem Swamp. You CANNOT cross that on foot. Click Here for details.
  • 2* That is a rapid river, only Chocobos and Special Vehicles can cross that.
  • 3* Same as above
  • 4* Lots and lots of thick snow with avalanches at a steep incline. Get a Snowboard or machine.
  • 5* It's a sea, get a boat or Airship.
  • 6* Same as above.


Now, I bet a many number of you are wondering what this means. It means that if you are in an area that you cannot travel out of normally... you can't rp out of that area. This means if you are in the Midgar/Kalm area... you can't rp yourself being at Junon until you've managed to get across the Zolem Swamp. Then you can rp in that area (But not the Midgar/Kalm area until you cross it again).

This goes for all areas like that. I'll gather the areas into groups.

East Continent 1

  • Midgar
  • Kalm Town
  • Rolling Fields
  • The Coast
  • Chocobo Farm
  • Zolem Swamp


East Continent 2

  • Mythril Mountain
  • Broken Grounds
  • Junon

Mideel Islands
Only Mideel Islands...

West Continent 1

  • Costa Del Sol
  • Corel Mountain
  • North Corel
  • The Desert

West Continent 2

  • Gongaga
  • Massive Forest
  • Rocky Wasteland
  • Cosmo Canyon


West Continent 3

  • Open Wasteland
  • Nibelheim
  • Mt. Nibel
  • Rocket Town

Disconnected Islands
Wutai is the only thing here...

Iceicle Continent

  • Bone Village
  • Sleeping Forest
  • Forgotten Capital
  • Modeohime
  • Icicle Inn
  • Great Glacier (Must Snowboard or ride a machine here)

So now that this is all out of the way. Know that you can NOT have a thread in one of these areas and in another area at the same time. That is unless you have managed to get there through some means. Now, if your character personally owns a Boat or Air-Craft then they can rp in any area they want to at any time. But every time they leave the area of their first thread they use up some of their fuel as if the machine was used for combat that thread. How much fuel is used depends on the Engine. See the Machines and You Rule for details.

Time for an Example for all of this:

  • Let's say I start a thread in Midgar (East Continent 1) with Billy.
  • Timmy wants to meet my character but he just started a thread with Jimmy at Junon.
  • I'd have to rp renting a Chocobo to ride across Zolem Swamp (Or find a different way across the swamp).
  • Then I'd be able to start a thread anywhere in (East Continent 2) with Timmy.
  • But I wouldn't be able to start a thread outside of East Continent 2 without managing a way to get there again.
