Posted Image "These days, all it takes for your dreams to come true is money and power." —President Shinra President Shinra is, as his name implies, President of the Shinra Corporation. Shinra was originally a small weapons company. When they discovered how to use Mako energy from the Lifestream as an electrical energy source, they exploded in power. They began spreading power to the entire world, setting up Mako Reactors to refine Lifestream energy all over, and expanding rapidly, quietly taking over every aspect of the Planet. With their ever-increasing finances, they began expanding into many areas, including space exploration, weapon development, etc. As people became more dependent on Shinra's power and supplies, President Shinra, company owner and leader, became the unofficial President of much of the world. Starting its own private army, using Mako energy to power the elite SOLDIER class and funding an undercover corps called the Turks, Shinra began ruling with an iron fist. They even began performing human experiments to create supersoldiers. When the people of Wutai disagreed with setting up Mako Reactors, Shinra sent in their army to overwhelm them and force their influence. Shinra constructed the metropolis Midgar, which housed the headquarters for all their actions as well as 8 large Mako Reactors. It ultimately has control over the city and lives of its people, although it introduced a figure-head mayor. It obtained control of much of the world's information and broadcasting services, and created a propaganda news service called "Shinra News". The main purpose of this propaganda machine was to declare those considered disloyal to Shinra dead and to considerably distort events to Shinra's favor Dissent had long been felt amongst the people under Shinra's rule. As the Mako Reactors destroyed wildlife and outcast villages, people began to despise their work. Many began researching Mako, and realized that Shinra was ripping life out of the planet. Some Shinra employees began to desert as they discovered the truths of the company, such as 1st class SOLDIERs Zack and Genesis. Anti-Shinra groups such as AVALANCHE and the Wutai Crescent Unit began springing up to combat the army and the Turks, though never had large effect. No more information at the moment... |

There's no reason to waste money on them." - Rufus Shinra As the son of President Shinra, he has been given the high position of Vice-President. Throughout the struggle with the anti-Shinra militant group, AVALANCHE, he secretly funded their operations and also fed them key information to allow them to win several victories during their various confrontations with Shinra. Like all other high-level Shinra executives, he was privy to sensitive information, which he often discussed with his father as second-in-command. Clearly, the only reason he aided AVALANCHE was not because of the Planet, but because he wanted to wrestle control of the company away from his father. Finally, it becomes obvious that Rufus has been feeding AVALANCHE information and he is captured by the Turks during the attack on old Corel. Using Rufus as leverage, the Turks save their commander Verdot, and his daughter, Elfé. Afterwards, Rufus is neither stripped of his title or killed for being a traitor. President Shinra orders him to be placed under house-arrest in Junon. His absence is explained by claiming that he is on an "extended assignment overseas". |

As the Head of Weapon’s Development Department, she creates many of the weapons used by the Shinra military and SOLDIER. She is ordered to capture Verdot after the Turks refuse to do so, and is also given the secondary order of assassinating all of the Turks. She leads the army against them, but fails in her mission. |

Posted Image "Gya haa haa haa!" – Heidegger A high ranking member among the Shinra, he is the Head of Public Safety Maintenance Department. He is often seen working with Scarlet, Head of Weapon’s Development. Pig-headed and arrogant, Heidegger refuses to believe he can make mistakes. During the war against AVALANCHE, Heidegger is given brief dominion over the Turks, as the President begins to distrust the Turks former leader, Verdot, because of several well coordinated attacks on the part of AVALANCHE. Heidegger attempts to lead the Turks during the operation in Junon, but nearly allows AVALANCHE to take the airfield because of his overreliance on the military. Following this, Verdot blackmails the President and is reinstated as commander of the Turks. However, after Verdot reveals himself as a traitor, Heidegger regains control of the Turks once again. Finally, Heidegger is the one who took command of SOLDIER following the defection of SOLDIER Director, Lazard Deusericus. |

Posted Image Reeve Tuesti Reeve is the head of Urban Development in Shinra. Acting primarily as an architect, he designed the city of Midgar, and also designed the Mako Reactors. He runs the day-to-day affairs of the city. |
