Vampiric Bitch
|
He stared at the swamp ahead of him, his piercing ice blue eyes looking over the terrain, not yet in the swamp but right on the edge. He could feel his pent up energy, and the muscles of his legs tensing and relaxing as he prepared himself for the journey ahead of him. He had to get across the swamp, he needed to be closer, closer to the headquarters of Shin-Ra. That thought caused him to growl softly, his mind echoing that word over and over in a silent scream of hatred. Shin-Ra! Shin-Ra! Shin-Ra! SHIN-RA!!! The words reverberated in the depth of his mind, drowning his other thoughts for the moment. That deeply ingrained hatred for them causing him to tremble with rage. His only memory, was his hatred for them, blaming them for the scars that covered his body, the claws on his hands, the loss of his other memories. He would make them pay, oh yes. First though, across the swamp he must go, to get to those he hates. He was a bit hesitant though. He had heard rumors on his way here of the large snake that inhabited the swamp, a 40-ft behemoth that could kill him in a single bite he was sure. It was not fear that caused such hesitation though, no he didn’t feel any fear at what was coming, he did not fear anything, just as he did not love anything, or anyone. It was simply that he could not die until he brought those who did this to him to their knees. Whether that was all of Shin-Ra, or if he could find out who, just the scientists, only time would tell. However to get to them, he had to cross this. It was time. His foot stepped forward, only a small step really, but the first into the actual swamp. Another step, and those ice blue eyes calmly searched around him, that white hair glittering as he took more, moving a bit deeper into the swamp. Each step was exaggerated as he coiled his legs with each step, ready to leap at the first sign of the large snake that he knew would come. He was right of course. Within only a few tens of steps into the swamp he started to hear a rusting, felt the earth vibrating slightly, as the beast approached, and he coiled his legs. He scanned around himself, waiting, waiting, looking, and there! It was coming at him from the front and left, and it reared up to tower above him as he saw it. He didn’t panic, he felt nothing on seeing it rearing above him, even the sight of that great beast ready to kill him, did not cause him to panic, or bring out emotion. Instead, his legs uncoiled, he came from up from his crouched position, and leaped high into the air just as the beasts head came down. His jump hit its arc, and he came down, landing on the top of the snakes head, and quickly coiled his legs again for another jump knowing he didn’t have a lot of time. He was right, the snake twisted in an attempt to throw him off and come at him again, but he leaped up just as it did, leaping forward once more, arching through the air and feeling the wind of the passing bite as he did so. He landed further along the snake in a crouch, almost halfway through the swamp now but not quite, the snakes body still stretching away into the distance and he cursed as he felt it start to undulate under him. It was turning, its head coming around to come after him again, or so he assumed. He didn’t look back to see, instead, he came up from his crouch, took a few running steps forward, and leaped high into the air again. Once more he felt the wind of the passing attempt to bite, still no fear or other emotion surfaced in him. It was as if he was out for a morning stroll. It was as if he almost didn’t care what happened at all, whether the snake bit him or not. Which, well, he didn’t, at least beyond the fact that he would regret leaving his life unfinished, not seeing Shin-Ra destroyed. He landed further along once more, this time not on the snake, but on the ground near it, landing in a crouch with his hand coming down to touch the ground, his legs coiling against it, muscles bunching in his legs as he landed. He quickly took another few running steps, his legs coiling again on the last step, bringing his body low to the ground, and he leaped up high into the air and far forward once more, passing the halfway point through the swamp. He felt a bit of pride at that thought as he realized it, even as he could feel the snake moving to come around at him and continue to try and stop him from making it across. He was getting a bit tired of this game now, annoyance actually rising in him at this point, the first time any emotion rose inside of him during their little encounter. He just wanted to fight Shin-Ra, destroy Shin-Ra, not have to outrun this snake. He felt the wind of its bite reach closer than before this time and his eyes narrowed. He would not let the snake keep him from his goal! He landed on the ground and immediately coiled his body again, not taking time to rest or pause at all at this point, instead just leaping straight forward and up again. It was almost as if it was one beautiful motion, the landing leading into another high leap, higher than it seemed anyone should be possible to go. He was almost through he though as he looked down at the ground from his height, and finally gave a quick glance back to see the snake rushing to catch up to his leap this time. That caused a slight arrogant smirk on his face as he realized he had gotten the better hand. He came down once more, though this time as he came down he stumbled, his foot catching on a branch, and ended up sprawling forward onto his face. He cursed himself inside his mind, and hurried to move, to get up. The snake was still after him, and he had not destroyed Shin-Ra yet, so he couldn’t be killed yet. His hands came down, and he pushed himself up and to one knee quickly. He glanced behind him, and the sight of that large white head coming down at him filled his view. He cursed and tossed himself to the side, the head slamming into the ground where he had been. This time he quickly rolled to his feet, pushing himself up as fast as possible. Damnit, he had to hurry, had to hurry, had to kill Shin-Ra! Finally he was on his feet, just as the serpent raised its head again. He stared at it as he crouched, his legs coming down. His hand touched the ground, his body leaned forward slightly. The head of the serpent shot towards him… and he leaped into the air, a single scream of the hatred that had driven him to push himself for this leaving his throat and resounding through the swamp. “SHIN-RA!!!!!!” The head slammed into the ground where he had been again, as he soared into the air, the wind flying past him from the force of the leap, causing his shining white hair to stream out behind him. There, the edge of the swamp! Seen from the apex of his jump. He then started coming down, the wind and the ground now rushing up at him, and he prepared himself for the landing. His feet came down, legs curled, hand came down, touching just inside the edge of the swamp. He was on one knee, there, the other leg curled up to absorb the blow from the fall, and the edge of the swamp only a few feet in front of him. Six incredible jumps it had taken, but he had made it across, he had done it. With a small smile of self satisfaction, though one that was cold still, and a glance back at the serpent rearing its head once more finally, he turned and strode out of the swamp, and onto the plains surrounding the chocobo farm. He did not plan on stopping there though, no, he had much better places to go, much better places to be. He had to get to Shin-Ra. He strode off toward the setting sun with that thought in mind, his ice blue eyes burning with intense hatred as that one word started reverberating through his mind again. SHIN-RA!!!!! |
