Dagats had her up and heard something she said. She wanted him to grab her sword, mostly because she might lose it and stab in a fit of rage. Sitting her down softly he reached for her sheath and took it from her waist and locked it around his own, being that his sheath was on his back, he would lock her sheath around his waist and sheath her sword in it so he could easily focus on carrying her. Lifting her up again, he began to make his way from the poor area of Midgar.

After walking for a bit, Dagast reached a brownish looking complex. It was quite late outside so luckily no one was out in the streets like in the slums. Sitting her down, Dagast opened the door and slung her left arm around his shoulder as he tried to usher her up the building. This building was his own apartment complex where he lived. It wasn’t too luxurious and it was quite small but it would suffice for Angeles. He had grown fond of her and felt something about her, the only reason he pestered her. Reaching his room he would take her through his front door and into his own personal room. He laid her down on the bed and covered her in his blanket.

Before leaving the room he sets down her sheath and blade as he leaves the room and sits down in the front. Hopefully she would feel better soon. It wasn’t good for her to be like this. He hoped he would be able to help her as he sat and looked over his gunblade as he waited for her.

Angeles continued to hum to herself as Dagast took her to his apartment. She stopped when he set he down to open the door and she tried to stand up but Dagast returned to her immediately and helped her walk up the stairs. Now it was starting to get embarrassing but she didn’t say anything. She allowed herself to be aided like a paraplegic up the stairs into the apartment, into a room and onto a bed. This worried her a little but Dagast simply pulled the blanket over her and left the room, leaving her sword there with her.

It had been a long while since she had last laid in a bed. It felt softer than anything that she could remember, which wasn’t true but it felt like it. She closed her eyes with a sigh and focused on the voice in her head now nothing but a mere whisper. However, she wanted peace and quiet for once since she had been experimented on and she forced herself to remember the fire in Nibelheim; remembered the screams of the women and children as the fled, and the men as they tried in vain to stand up to Sephiroth. Lastly she remembered Sephiroth, standing amidst the flames with a maniac smile filled with killing intent.

“Fuck your Reunion,” she muttered and turned over in the bed, promptly falling off the edge and onto the floor. She grumbled slightly and stood up and made the bed then walked over and grabbed her sword, slipping it back onto her back. However as she reached for the door she stopped. Would it be safe to trust this Soldier? What if he had realized what she was and was contacting Shinra. She retracted her hand away from the door and walked quietly over to the window and opened it to see how far down it was before turning and sitting on the foot of the bed and thinking about what she should do.

Hoping that Angeles would be alright, Dagast closed his eyes and murmured a prayer for her. In the midst of his praying he turned his head towards his room as he heard a thud. He stood up, leaving his Gunblade unattended. Heading to the door he heard rustling of sheets along with the clinging of metal. Angeles was up alright but what was she doing? Dagast thought to survey but instead he would speak.

‘Angeles? I know your awake right now. You don’t need to be alarmed. If your worried about me arresting you right now… Im unarmed and completely useless without my weapon. Plus, I wouldn’t bring you to my home just to arrest you. I just wanted you to feel safe and be fed. Nobody should have to live on the street….’

Dagast waited a few moments a she sighed.

‘You don’t have to leave. It would be nice to have some company every once in a while. You could stay as long a you like. Would ya like something to eat?’

Angeles looked up as Dagast started speaking at her through the door. She stood up and opened the door and looked at Dagast right in the eyes, “I already told you I would not be able to repay you, and you’ve already fed me, remember?” she walked around Dagast into his living room and looked around, keeping a wary eye for any places that could be easily hidden in for future reference, “but if company is what you’re looking for, I guess I can accommodate for a while…,” Angeles turned and looked out of the window and walked towards it. She braced her hands against the sill looking out towards the city.

“Are we above the plate? I can’t tell…,” she wondered if she could see HQ from here, but it would be of no use if they were below the plate. She turned to look at Dagast, looking him up and down and saw that he was indeed unarmed, but caught in the corner of her eye his gunblade leaning against the couch, “you haven’t eaten yet, if you want, I can cook you something. I’m not as good of a cook as my friend Cyr but I learned a few tricks from her,” she said this and arched her shoulders, letting her coat slide off her arms but she caught it before it hit the ground and folded it neatly over the back of the couch.

“What do you feel hungry for?” she asked. The shirt she wore exposed a lot of her back, and subsequently most of her scars, but her hair was long enough to hide those from view. The few on her arms, however, were clearly visible, and her sword was still strapped to her back, “I’ll tell you if I can make it.”

‘Repay me?... Not everybody in the world does things to get something for it. If I wanted some extra pay for this I wouldn’t have done it cause it would have become bothersome Angeles. And your right I did offer you something to eat earlier.’

Dagast looked on as his eyebrow raised a bit as her arms were covered by scars. ‘Your offering to cook for me? Heh.. its like a have a regular wife at the house for once. I really don’t have anything in mind Angeles. Surprise me wit whatever you like.’ Dagast thought as he simply walked over to the kitchen bar area and sat at a stool.

‘Since you’re here for this long… why don’t you stay for the night? You can have my bed and ill sleep out here? It beats the concrete of the plate and yeah we are above it. This complex is quite a distance a ways from where we were so nobody should be pestering you.’

Dagast might have been ushering her too stronger but he just wanted her to feel safe so she wouldn’t have ton run these horrible streets in days and in nights. What do ya say

“I know,” Angeles replied to his first statement, “but I feel better repaying someone,” Angeles walked into the kitchen after Dagast did and as he sat down she started rummaging around the cupboards to see what she had to work with. She finally took down the ingredients she needed for spaghetti, her specialty. They were above the plate, that was good. It would make it easier to leave.

“It’s a kind offer,” she said as she filled a pot with water and set it on the stove to start boiling, “but I must decline, I should get going soon. I need to pay some of my friends a visit,” she took out a knife and started chopping half an onion and a clove of garlic. She worked quickly, but she was no where near the skill Cyr was. It was like watching Wutain cooking with Cyr. Angeles smiled at the memory and put the noodles in the pot then sat back against the counter and watched them slowly sink into the water bit by bit.

“I have to figure how I’ll go about it though,” she mused out loud, “I’m not sure they’ll be too pleased to see me. Well, alive at least.”

‘Alive?’

The problem with that word to Dagast is that it put so many thought sin his head. He loved the fact that he was alive, and couldn’t even picture himself being dead. Something must have happened to Angeles if she was talking like this.

‘You don’t have to ac polite. You said you have nowhere to go. If you have nowhere to go and I’m offering you somewhere… then there is a place for you to go. A place to call home. Somewhere you don’t have to sleep on concrete, worry about chills and rain but most importantly worry about your past.’

Dagast stood up and walked over into the kitchen area. ‘You want to visit your friends? I’ll come with you, out of uniform so they won’t be alarmed. It doesn’t sound safe and I can’t let one of my friends do something so stupid that it would end up hurting them. SO let me come with you…’

Angeles laughed and looked at Dagast, “I’d rather not have your death on my hands. They’d be far happier to see me, than to see you with or without your uniform. My friends are Turks, and all I need is a bit of information from them before I can keep going on with my life. I apologize if I made it seem like doing so was dangerous for my being,” She stirred the noodles and hummed slightly, “also, I have somewhere to stay and call home, but it’s in Kalm. So again, thank you for your offer, but I can’t accept, I can’t put either of us in danger by staying with you, my conscious won’t allow it.”

Angeles turned back around and bowed at the waist to Dagast, “I’m very sorry,” then turned and began dicing up tomatoes before opening a can of tomato sauce and tomato paste. She poured both of these in a saucepan with the onion and garlic and set it to simmer as she began looking around for some oregano.

“I’ll be fine, you don’t have to worry about me.”

‘Well damn…’

Dagast Scratched his head. ‘If it wouldn’t be any trouble… could you call me by my actual name and not this imposed name of SOLDIER. I actually like the name Armand, Angeles. It’s alright… I just felt compelled to do so. I guess it’s my nature as a SOLDIER… or the fact I’ve taken a real liking to you.’

Dagast slummed back against the counter. He looked at Angeles as she continued to smile which was something he didn’t see in her earlier. And at this time is when he realized she was better. Forgetful Dagast had already forgot about Angeles and her weird quirks. She was stumbling and speaking to herself to the point that it worried Dagast. He fidgeted in his pocket as he brought up a question.

‘He can I call you Angel for short and do you have a cell phone?’ Dagast flashed his own phone.

Angeles took out the Oregano and listened to Dagast speak. She seasoned the sauce lightly, then stopped and turned when Dagast asked her a question that seemed to be on more personal terms. She looked down then reached into her pocket and looked at her phone, “it is… 846-2368. And you can call me pretty much anything you like,” she took some of the plates from a cupboard she had seen while looking for the oregano and set them onto the counter next to Dagast, “Rafe used to call me ‘that one bitch,’ Reno used to call me ‘mom,’ so I’ve got a pretty large range of nicknames to go by really.”

Angeles quieted as she served Dagast his spaghetti, “I hope you like it. like I said, I’m not as good a chef as some of the people I know.”

‘I can call you anything? And it’s…8-4-6-2-3-6-8. Gotcha Angel.’

Dagast said as he typed in her number and saved it to the contacts portion of his phone. ‘You’ll get mines whenever I call or text you Angeles. Which one would you prefer? Some people don’t like text’s or others don’t like calls. Which would you prefer so I don’t get cursed out for doing one thing or another?’

Dagast said as she brought him a plate of sauce, noodles and meat. He held his head down and closed his eyes. Locking his hands he whispered a prayer to himself telling the gods his thanks for this meal. Opening his eyes, he mimicked a crucifix over his face. He took a fork and began to eat. She talked about all the nicknames she had and how they all were quite humorous. Dagats put thumbs up telling the food was good. After a few more bites he stopped briefly and used a napkin to clean his face off from the sauce.

‘So now what are you going to do Angeles?’

“Either or, texting or calling, I don’t care,” she said, taking out her phone and looking at it. it was very bothersome that something that had been so easy to operate only a few months ago was now too complex for her ‘reunion’ filled mind to comprehend. She sighed and slipped the phone back into her pocket and watched as Dagast prayed. She herself was not particularly religious. The religion she had been born into was not one of the larger ones of the planet, and not widely accepted as it was polytheistic. However, though she was in the habit of cursing and taking the gods’ names in vain, she did not really believe in her religion, or any religion for that matter.

As Dagast crossed himself she nodded. He believed in one god; it was good to know. As he ate he gave her a thumbs up and she smiled. At least he enjoyed it. As he ate Angeles went back to her coat and slid it on to hide the scars once more. It was safe to wear the coat again because she was no longer cooking. She looked out the window at the upper plate and tried to locate the Turk headquarters but then Dagast asked her a question.

“I’m not sure,” she answered truthfully, looking away from the window, “figure the best course of action, execute the strategy without detection, find out what I need to know, then escape to somewhere,” she did not look over at Dagast, rather she trained her eyes onto the carpet, “that’s how reconnaissance missions usually work.”

Dagats stood up and walked towards her leaving the plate of food on the table. ‘Mission? You said you were talking to some old friends. A recon mission is mostly a mission that has the aspect of being a dangerous one. Your going to be alright by yourself?’

Dagast walked closer towards the window and looked out of it himself. Looking over the backdrop there were plenty of images. Bright lights from night businesses, people walking about. Some dressed to impress while others were just there. Dagast took a deep breath and stared out into the distance. He was a SOLDIER… his job was to protect the people from themselves. Could he really do that though?

“I’ve been by myself for awhile,” she answered Dagast, again without looking at him, “I’m used to working alone. I should be fine, unless the shit about Reunion pops into my head again,” she looked out at the window again, this time her eyes falling on the Turk building. It was within walking distance, but she could not go there now. She’d have to go back to Kalm and think of her full scale strategy, no without the variant of Gil within the equation. She’d have to find another way to escape from Midgar once everything was done. She looked down slightly and stole a glance at Dagast out of the corner of her eye, wondering if they’d send him after her once everything was done.

Without thinking further on it, she turned, “anyway, it’s best that I be going now, I have to head back if I want to make it to Kalm before nightfall. It was nice meeting you Armand, I hope the next time we meet is on slightly better circumstances and not worse ones,” she gave him a short wave before walking out the door and shutting it behind her. She smiled slightly to herself. She was probably digging herself into a grave, giving this Soldier her number. Her hand left the knob of the door slowly and she stole silently down the stairs, slipping her hands into her pockets.

She got outside and looked around out of the people walking by, some completely unaware of her existence on the sidewalk, others giving her disgusted looks and avoiding her completely. She smiled at them, and turned to look up at Dagast’s window, though she could not see him from her angle, nor he she. She shrugged her shoulders and walked out into the street and walked calmly towards the exit, heading towards Kalm.
