Apocalypse (Lv4)
The sound of stomps echoed the air as a Chocobo ran across the swamp at a fast pace, being chased by a rather large snake. On that Chocobo was a dark clothed man with pale skin, holding his staff in one hand. He had his head turned, looking at the giant snake that haunted their trail. He had very little hope of escaping this giant death machine known as the Midgar Zolem, but he had to try. He didn't pay one hundred Gil just to be eaten by the Snake. This Chocobo was supposed to be the only thing that can outrun the Snake.

"I'll have to divert it," Angel said as his staff began to glow. A large hole formed behind he and the Chocobo. He used the technique Fissure in an attempt to make the Snake lose it's ground in some manner.

"Drat!" Angel said as he watched the giant snake move right over the hole. Water from the swamp filled in the hole as if it were never there. "There is little I can do but launch Fire balls at it in hopes it will slow it down," Angel said to himself as his body slowly began to glow a dark red color. "Goddess of Fire, grant me your spell so I may escape this danger and live another day," Angel chanted as he held his staff to his forehead. He turned with his staff pointing out, sending a large fireball colored black towards the Snake.

The fireball engulfed the Snake, fizzing out as if it had no effect to the beast. All of Angel's spells did nothing to it. The earth was too damp for his spells to do much and the Snake was Fire Elemented. There was little he could do but hope. He wasn't much of a praying man, but there was a good chance he would start now. He had very little choice. Why on earth did I ever think this was a good idea? If I ever return to that damned Ranch I will kill that child who rented me this Chocobo. Angel thought to himself as the Chocobo grew nearer and nearer to the exit of the swamp. Once Angel got out of the Swamp, he'd be fine. The snake never left that area... at least according to the training he received in the process to becoming a Soldier.

"Wark!!" the Chocobo cried out as he began to pick up speed. The giant snake let out a roar as it seemed to throw up something at a high volocity. Whatever it was, it was difficult to tell if it was dangerous or not. It seemed to be black and covered in flames as it was launched towards Angel and his Chocobo. It didn't take long for the large object to hit the ground and roll past and ahead of them. The tar began to fall off of the large object to reveal the corpse of a Chocobo and a past rider. The only thing that survived was the clothing of the rider and a large bag he seemed to have strapped over his shoulder.

"A bag?" Angel said, using his enhanced eyes to see the details of the corpse as they approached it. "Maybe.. if I could," Angel said to himself as he held his long staff out towards the bag's strap, picking it up off of the corpse. "I'll check my spoils later, for now... safety!" Angel said as he tapped at the Chocobo's side lightly with his staff, after grabbing the bag from it. He didn't want to lose whatever it is he risked his life over. "Come on you big stupid bird, I have faith in you!" Angel said as he tapped at the Chocobo's side once more, making the bird run faster. Note to self, acquire the haste Materia in the future... Angel thought to himself, drawing towards the end of the swamp.

"Fuck you, you damned giant snake! I'm about to leave you behind. No Angel food for you today!" Angel shouted in a taunting manner as the Snake burst out from the swampy water towards Angel and the Chocobo. "Yea... Yea... oh Fuck..." Angel said as he pulled on the harness towards the right as hard as he could, telling the Chocobo to make a hard right. It was the only hope he had in avoiding the Giant Snake's death bite. Oddly enough, it worked. The snake missed and entered the water again. This caused the snake to lose it's gain on the two.

Angel said nothing, trying his best to not distract himself from the goal ahead. The were literally just a few seconds from their escape and a simple mistake could end his life right now. Come on, come on... it's not in my fate to die here, I need to get going! Angel thought to himself as the Chocobo took a gallant leap out of the swamp, keeping up it's pace in case the Snake was able to catch up with them somehow. YES! I made it! Angel thought as the Chocobo came to a halt in it's tracks. Angel sighed to himself as he looked back to see nothing following them. It was clear that the snake had left them be as they were out of it's territory.

"Now what's in that bag I grabbed?" Angel asked himself as he opened it up, to view what it had inside. It looked dirty, but it was most definitely money. Black goop covered the money, but it would not be difficult to clean off and use in later days. "Perfect, I could use some extra cash since I spent some on this Chocobo. But his job isn't over yet," Angel said with a smirk. "You're taking me through the mountain ahead, I don't intent to walk through it alone," Angel chuckled as he tapped at the Chocobo's side, telling it to carry on ahead. The Chocobo let out a simple, "Wark?" as it entered the cave, allowing Angel to lead it to whatever fate that may lie ahead.
