The First Leo Harashiki of The New World Order of Enlightenment

Leo had gotten a letter during the night. Whoever had written the letter wanted to get Leo to Kalm, so Leo did as the letter instructed. He had been able to hitch a ride to Kalm with the mail-delivery, and the two guys chatted about many things while they drove towards Kalm. "So, why did you need to get to Kalm?" the mail-man asked. "Well, I received a letter this morning that told me to go to Kalm. That's about as much as I know. And it also mentioned someone called Kakutou Tensei. Do you know who that is?" "I'm guessing you'll be wishing you never followed the instructions in that letter. I do in fact know that woman, but I won't spoil the surprise. You'll see what I mean when you meet her. She usually waits for people in the tea-house 'The Golden Cup'. Seems like we're here. I'll deliver the mail now. If you need a ride home, I'll be staying here until tomorrow. Just make sure you're at the exit of town before 09.30. See you around" As Leo stepped out of the car, he looked straight at the tea-house. I guess there's not much more I can do. I'll hopefully be able to get a cup of tea before I have to go anywhere. I'm thirsty. Leo walked in the nice, green door. A bell rang and announced his arrival. He walked straight to the counter and asked for a cup of Rhorbush-tea with caramel. The waitress said it would be done in a minute. While he waited, Leo found a seat at the table closes to the door. He was joined by a beautiful woman before he had even pulled his chair out. "Hello. May I assume that you are miss Kakutou Tensei?" The woman looked at Leo with a calculating look. She seemed to measure him, and this made Leo a little uneasy. "Yes, I am. But you will call me Tensei or sensei. I have heard some whispers about you. You use your sword a lot, but I don't think you have realized how much you rely on it. You need to train your body to be able to fight without the sword. If somebody were to strip you of your sword, what would you do then? My guess is that you would be beat up or killed. Even though your hands does not have sharp blades, they can be far more effective. But that is only if you know how to use them. I will teach you that. Drink up your tea, and then follow me." During the time Tensei used to speak, the tea had arrived, and Leo had begun drinking it. He started to hurry a little bit more when Tensei told him to drink up. As soon as he finished the cup of tea, she had dragged him out the door by the collar of his coat. "Whoa, I could walk, you know." Leo was quite surprised as he had been dragged out from the tea-house. He wasn't used to being man-handled, and especially not by a woman. "If you say so..." Tensei said as she let go of Leo's collar. This in turn made Leo hit the ground. Leo got back up as quickly as he could, and started walking after Tensei. She was headed towards the forest. "Why are we going into the forest?" Leo asked as he walked up beside Tensei. "Because, that's where I live. That's also where you'll be training. This might take a day or two, or it may take a week or two. That is entirely up to you, but I won't let you leave before you have adequate skill. You should come back to train more even after I deem you adequate. Just being adequate isn't going to do much when you're faced with formidable opponents." After having walked for what seemed like hours, they arrived at a big tree. There seemed to be a door in the tree itself. "Don't tell me that you live inside a tree..." "I do. Do you have a problem with that?" "No, of course not. It's just... unusual, that's all." "Wait here while I get my training-clothes on. I'll be back in a minute."

As Tensei came back out from her house, Leo observed that her clothing was merely practical. Nothing to subtract from fighting. This is going to get very painful... very fast... "Are you ready for your first lesson?" The words implied that Leo could say that he wasn't ready, but the tone more than implied that he didn't have a choice. "I guess so, sensei." Tensei nodded and walked off, signaling for Leo to follow. She lead him to the equivalent of a training studio, but everything was made from rocks or wood. "I'm training here?" Leo asked, and received a kick in the chest for his rudeness. "Don't doubt me. I've been training here, and so shall you. You'll become a good martial artist one day, that's all I can promise. Now, shall we start our session?" Tensei quickly dragged Leo to his feet and made him kick a piece of wood until his shin was bloody. She applied a bandage, and told him to start kicking with the other leg. Every time Leo disobeyed her commands, she punished him with a stinging kick or blow. When both shins where bloody and bandaged, day had turned into night. "Let's go to bed. I have a room for you in my house. It should suit you very well." The room she had mentioned was barely big enough to get a bed into. Leo figured it wasn't for much more than sleeping, so he just laid his exhausted body down on the bed. He was sleeping in a matter of seconds. |

The First Leo Harashiki of The New World Order of Enlightenment

Day 2: As Leo woke up, he felt the soreness in his muscles from the day before. That's what your get for not stretching out, you idiot. Ouch. His limbs were bothering him a lot, but when Tensei came and told him to get ready for the lesson of the day, he had to ignore the screaming pain in them. After a quick breakfast consisting of nuts, berries and some roots, they were off to the training field again. "Smash your fist into that log. When it's broken in half, you can start on the next one. I'll come back in an hour to see how far you've come." Leo obediently started punching the big wooden log. His knuckles were reddening by each hit, and soon there were blood streaming from them. Leo bandaged his broken knuckles and continued to hit the log. The searing pain when his fist hit the wood was incredible, but Leo was more terrified of what Tensei could do to him if she found out that he hadn't been training. Tensei came back after an hour, in which Leo had been abusing his knuckles even more. The bandages were red, even though he had changed them twice. "I see you've followed my orders perfectly. Good. Now, get ready to spar against me." As the words reached Leo's brain, he began to feel like he had been given a death sentence. Am I supposed to spar against her? She obviously has been training for years. And I don't know how to fight without Kaen. I'll be murdered, and nobody will find the body, because I'm in the middle of nowhere. "Three, two, one, start!" Tensei's voice rang in Leo's ears, and before he could even begin to think about what he should do, he was flying backwards through the air. Tensei had punched him straight in the chest, forcing him through the air. His flight was stopped by a rather large tree, and that added a lot to the pain Leo was going through already. The sounds of Leo coughing up blood was horrid. Tensei figured out that Leo should go to a hospital and get fixed up. While Leo was still spitting blood, she lifted him up and carried him back to Kalm. She got hold of one of her friends from Midgar, and arranged for her to bring Leo back there. "I'll see you soon, I hope. Try practicing punches and kicks before you return." With that, Tensei disappeared back into the forest. Leo fainted on his way to Midgar, and woke up in a hospital in the slums. An old guy told him that he was lucky, not many people could survive getting most of the ribs broken at the same time. Before leaving the clinic, Leo asked if he had to pay for the treatment. The nurse told him that Shin-Ra were paying all their expenses, and that he didn't have to worry about money.
