MOOGLE AWWWWAAAAYYYY!!!
“Definitely, Kupo. Those orphanages won’t know what giant cockroach hit them!” Chris began to speak, so Nex flew next to his vehicle, listening carefully. He started talking about turning into a giant dragon, which actually sent a wave of excitement through the Moogle. “Kupo, that sounds like justice! I know what that’s like to, when Lini and I fuse into Lex! Both of our bodies DNA and such are chemically torn apart and redesigned in a split second, resulting in an entirely new Moogle, with enhanced powers and capabilities! And then when we de-fuse, that Moogle is chemically destroyed, and then in a split second, our DNA is returned to their general locations and we are reformed,”

“This one time, though, it messed up. I used to have an outie, but now, I have an innie. Look, see?” And Nex flew forward, slamming his stomach into Chris’ face, and held it there, as presumably, he was going to struggle a bit. A moment later, he flew off, and exclaimed, “It’s crazy, right? I can’t clean it very well though, because it’s all…in and stuff. I hate it. Anyways, yeah, you should turn me into a dragon, that would be awesome for justice!”

The flight had been going well, until Chris had brought up something about transformations. That ended up setting Nex’s mind and mouth into overdrive, as he proceeded to spill more beans on secret Mog Squad data. Not only that, he completely invaded Chris’s personal space and stuck his gut in the face of one of their few remaining human allies.

Lini quickly diffused that potential situation, first by starting to make the motion to pull Nex out of the way, but Nex pulled himself away first before Lini got to him. That was probably for Nex’s benefit, as Lini wasn’t going to hold back with that pull, and would have probably resulted in a dislocated shoulder or pom-pom or worse.

Since Nex continued on his rant, it was up to Lini to bring this to a successful conclusion. “Ummm…” Lini started, “I’m pretty sure that Chris can’t turn you into a dragon. And if its really that important, then I’ll figure out how to do it myself. I’ve had transformation Materia for a while, and if you want something like that, then give me some time to figure things out with it, Kupo.”

Mentioning the possibility of using the Transform Materia as a full polymorph effect rather than simply the baleful versions that it seemed to offer by default was met by mixed reactions. Nex was giddy with excitement and started running at the mouth over some completely random, potentially meaningful, and certainly 'too much information', things, while Lini expressed his doubt about whether Chris could pull that off as he attempted to hold Nex back.

"I never paid attention to minor details unless they were specifically a weak point to hit for massive damage." Chris said to Nex as he tried to shoo him off, then addressed Lini's concern, "I'd probably have to put at least as much experience into my Transform Materia as I did with my Fire Materia to pull something like that off. If all else fails, maybe that desire to become a dragon would manifest itself as a Limit Break. I'm pretty sure there's a draconic summon somewhere out there, as well. If it even works that way and isn't a simple 'Dash away from the area that the summon comes in faster than any living creature can perceive.' kinda thing."

Chris decided to lower altitude a few meters to try to shake off the hyperactive Moogle, then said, "I THINK that I'm ready to try something new with those potions...well, not exactly new, but improved. Who knows...maybe it could be strong enough to balance off the drawbacks of the growth potions..."

“If he can’t, then we shall, kupo! Nobody can stand up to a dragon, especially when he’s built for justice!” He stopped for a moment, and then corrected himself. “But, we can stand up to dragons,” A grin spread across his furry face, as he was satisfied. His grin did not cease as Chris began to discuss the possibilities of how Nex could become a dragon, whether it be by way of the breaking of the limit or with the use of the transformation materia. Chris’ movement was unnoticed by Nex, he began to think. “Yes, kupo…this could work quite nicely,”

“It probably wouldn’t be very hard to adapt to…considering that I have my molecular database rearranged every time that Lini and I fuse into Lex…huh…yeah, simply altering bone structure, lung size, adding a FIRE PACK OF JUSTICE onto said lungs to create fire…fangs, wings, claws…would I keep my fur? That would be cool, a furry dragon…huh…” Nex began to daydream.

Lini sighed a bit as Nex missed pretty much half of the conversation by being lost in his own little plans. The fact that both Lini and Chris’s words of difficulty didn’t stop his mad imagining meant two things. The first was that Nex wasn’t going to forget this anytime soon. The second is that until this happened, Nex wasn’t going to stop thinking about it. So, Lini sighed a bit and added ‘Turn Nex into a Dragon’ on his mental to-do list. That list was getting more and more massive, as Nex came up with more things that needed to be done. It was getting to the point that the stuff Lini wanted to do was constantly pushed further and further down the list. Well, they were a team, and teams require work.

Still, they had been given an offer, which meant that Nex needed to be snapped out of his current stupor, and brought back to current reality. Chris had offered potion making, and considering how Lini had less magic capabilities then Nex, then that meant it was the Moogle Mage’s job to assist him. So, Lini snapped Nex out of his daydreams the only way he knew how.

Lini clapped his hands together twice loudly and shouted out “OI!” right to his partner. If that didn’t get his attention, then Nex was far too gone for any sort of concentration today.

Nex kept rambling on about the whole thing. Eventually, Lini tried to get Nex's attention, then Chris gave his own suggestion. "That or you can build a machine that looks and acts like a dragon. Then again, you might say that it doesn't feel the same. Also, keep in mind that not all dragons breathe fire. Then again, you probably know that. We took down one that favored Water and Earth attacks a year or so ago, remember?"

Chris looked around, and saw that they were far enough away from town. "Okay, I think we're reasonably clear." Chris said, then came in for a landing, and waited for the two Moogles to come down. As he waited, he prepared for his next 'experiment', setting his Aero and Water Materia in place of the Transform and All Materia, the latter unusable for the remainder of the day anyway. "This one will use the Aero Materia, so chances are it won't look to unappetizing to Nex's tastes. However, who knows?"

“WOAH WOAH WOAH!” Nex’s head spun around and he did a barrel roll. “Sorry, thought I heard my old Drinking Team’s call to duty. What were we talking about?” Chris offered a suggestion about building a robot dragon, but that didn’t register too well with Nex. “It won’t have the awesome…dragon feeling though. Too robot-y, not enough dragon-y stuff. The Moogle Mage followed Chris’ landing, and observed as he prepared his experiment. “Aero materia…drink? That’s like drinking air…weird,” The Moogle floated up into the air, letting out a yawn. “We need to learn how to make Kool-Aid. I freaking love Kool-Aid,”

He floated back down. “What materia would that use?...Actually, I could just go to the store and get some Kool-Aid…nah, we can get it later. Anyways, what’s the plan for today? We’re gonna make potions, right?”

Well, the hardest part of the day had ended. Lini had successfully pulled Nex out of his fantastical daydreams and back to reality at hand. There was absolutely nothing that would have to be done today that would be harder then that, so technically the worst of it was over. It was a good thing, too, as if Nex continued on that path, he would have missed the landing and flown headfirst into a cliff. Lini didn’t want to deal with that.

Lini came in for a landing as well, as Nex continued his talk. First he questioned how the heck Aero would work in a potion, and then it turned to how much he liked Kool-Aid before finally getting to the task at hand. However, Lini saw a potential distraction in that sentence and decided to nip that in the bud right away.

“Yep, Kupo,” Lini said, “That’s the plan. So why don’t you two work on the potions while I get the Kool-Aid.”

It was time to partake in the most ancient and dark of all the summoning rituals in existence. Lini looked up and shouted to the sky, “Hey Kool-Aid!”

A brick wall happened to appear right next to them. A few seconds later, a large pitcher with a face broke through the way carrying a pitcher of flavored sugar drink. “OH YEAH!” It declared as it burst through the brick wall.

“There,” Lini said, “I got you your Kool-Aid, Kupo.”

"Pfft...I don't even know if I have an element that can make it Red 40. Fire will probably end up resembling Orange Soda." Chris said in response to Nex's suggestion of making something resembling Kool-Aid. Lini's response was a bit more what Nex would be looking for: Calling up the Kool-Aid Man himself. "Ooooh yeah!" Chris said in near-unison with the aformentioned mascot, who had made his classic entrance, then made the delivery.

After that was settled, Chris said, "Anyway, I've done something with that element before. It works as a remedy to Gravity attacks and a possible way of evading Earth attacks...or at least damage reduction against that element. And that's at level one." Chris then pulled out the result of such a combination. Even after as long it was left unused, it was still bubbling as it was when it was first created. "Let me see what happens when I bring it to level two." Chris then took an empty bottle and focused his energy into the two Materia in the combination. The result was a bluish-silver liquid.

"There. Now, who should test this one out?" Chris asked.

“Holy shit, seriously? Awesome! I FREAKING LOVE KOOL-AID!” Nex began to leap up and down (technically, he bobbed up and down in the air, because he was floating) and began to scream like a little girl. He almost passed out when Kool-Aid himself actually exploded through a brick wall and delivered the yummy drink. Nex giggled to himself and began to sip on it as Chris prepared his weird and nasty Aero drink. It looked like diarrhea soup, or something that would give you diarrhea, or maybe it was diarrhea. Nex couldn’t tell, because it was a nasty blue-silver tint.

“I ain’t drinking that. I have my Kool-Aid and it’s…SHIT! It’s all gone!” He let out a sigh and dropped the glass. “I guess I’ll drink the diarrhea soup,” He reached for it and eyed it cautiously. “Remember, kupos, if I die, give my robot to…uh…me, actually,” and with that, the Moogle chugged the drink. “Phew…uh…I feel…weird…” he let out a sigh, and then violently flew up into the air. “Woah!” He lost control of himself a moment later, and slammed into a tree. “My body is so light…I barely move my wings and WOOOSH I’m like FLYING EVERYWHERE AND IT’S NOT COMFORTABLE!”

Lini’s plan and summon was successful, and Kool-Aid was had by all who desired it. Mostly Nex, who practically blew a gasket at the sight of the giant pitcher man, and proceeded to greedily drink down every bit of the delicious sugar drink he was presented with. Of course, it was only meant to serve as a distraction to Nex so he would pay attention. In that regard, the plan was a success, as Chris created his potion and Nex stayed relatively sane throughout the process.

Nex didn’t want any part of it, again basing the drinks based on how they looked. But, once he realized that he was out of Kool-Aid, he chugged Chris’s drink down as well. It was calm for a moment, until he violently shot into the air. Moments later, Nex started shooting around like an out-of-control rocket.

Lini scratched the back of his head a bit as he watched Nex woosh around. “I think, Kupo,” He said finally, “That you need to get a lab assistant or something to test these things on.” Nex flew around again, making Lini duck the rocket-Moogle.

“Do ya have any way to stop or slow him down, Kupo?” Lini asked, “This is making him more hyper then he already is.”

Initially, Nex showed his usual distaste for the new drinks, but before long, he ran out of other stuff to drink and was still thirsty, and downed the potion as well. Nex noted that something was happening, then started to lift off the ground...a lot faster than he anticipated. Nex was having trouble controlling his boosted flight speed, and was flying every which way, with pretty much any attempt to change direction resulting in a too-fast dash in the direction he wanted to go in.

"Yikes...almost too strong for a Moogle." Chris said. Lini suggested finding someone who would be willing to dedicate him or herself to testing those kinds of things, to which Chris replied, "I don't think I'd find anyone that willing who hasn't already subjected himself to Shin-Ra science. Then again, that may not have gotten everyone to reconsider submitting themselves to such experimentation. As for stopping Nex...I don't think either one of us has anything that can catch him. All we can do is wait out the potion's duration."

"Okay, I think he's going to need to figure out how to control himself when some of the normal forces of physics that would slow him down are pushed aside." Chris said, "That and I wonder how well it would work on someone bigger..." In preparation for more tests, Chris prepared a few more of the potions, while making sure Nex didn't pick up any more of them. Otherwise, won't be able to slow himself down for a while.

“Whee! This is fun! HUZZAH! HAAA-OW!” Nex had smashed face first into a tree, and slowly floated back down to the ground. He stopped for a moment, and then let out a fart that lasted at least ten seconds, and then slowly stood up, dusting himself off. “There are some people who still aren’t effected by SHINRA science, but for now, the Mog Squad can support all of your testing needs,” He let out a long cough, and then floated up into the air. “Alright then, I guess your potion works. Now, I have to go to the bathroom, now, give me a second,”

He floated off into the forest, and a moment later, floated back, letting out a sigh. “God damn…diarrhea soup…”

Lini watched for a bit as Nex zoomed around under the effects of magic liquids, until he finally came to a halt by crashing face-first into a tree. That looked to be the last of it, as he slowly fell back to the ground as gravity reclaimed its grasp on him. That was the end of the potion effects, and Nex was no longer under their influence. Once he flew off quickly for a quick trip to the bathroom, things were back to normal.

As soon as Nex returned, Lini turned his attention back to Chris. “Well, Kupo,” Lini said, “I guess that means that we’ve become your experimental lab Moogles for your testing’s. Sounds good to me, as they seem to be awesome so far. But, if we turn into horrific monstrosities, you know they turn on their creator first, Kupo.”

Lini purposely let that hang in the air for a second in complete silence before he moved on. “So!” He said enthusiastically and cheerfully, “Got anything else you want us to try out now, Kupo?”

Chris watched as Nex started getting the hang of the speed boost, but then rammed into a tree and came to a halt, then floated down to the ground before releasing the byproducts of the potion and standing up as normal, then heading out to do some...business. "Twenty seconds. That didn't last all that long, even by state-change standards. Unless the part where he hit the tree cut it short." Chris said, "Now, gas I can probably expect out of this one. But now I have a feeling the diarrea part is just a Nex problem."

After Nex returned from his break, Lini volunteered himself, and possibly Nex, for any future testing if Chris develops any more potion type things, with the warning that if they experience any really nasty permanent side effects and turn into something resembling 'terminate immediately'-bad Shin-Ra failures, he was DEAD. Or at least hunted down with no chance to rest until then. "I'm guessing the guys behind Shin-Ra's experiments are either able to hold their own against their own creations, or pretty much inaccessible. That or they have reserves, so long as the guy in charge isn't taken out." Chris said.

"Besides, with that in mind, it might be less of a risk to test such things on myself." Chris said, "However, I don't want to lose the knowlege of all of the ones that I know work. Unless my Materia form happens to grant my alchemy abilities to whoever has it..." Then Lini asked if there were any more new ideas that they could test out, "Not right now, but I still haven't fully tested this one's effects."

Chris then took one of the potions that he had prepared and gulped it down. The potion's effects took a couple of seconds to kick in, but once they did, it almost caught him off guard. It felt like every opening inside his body, at least everything below the neck, was filling up with some sort of mystical lighter-than-air substance, pushing upwards to counteract the normal levels of gravity keeping him on the ground. A couple of seconds later, he was slowly drifting up into the air.

"I guess that works well enough, but..." Chris said, then tried willing himself into moving through the air as his first attempt. It actually worked decently well, even though he wasn't able to 'fly' nearly as fast as Nex did with his test, nor was he even going as fast as his normal land speed. At least he had more control than Nex did. "Yeah. If I can just make it last longer, then I might have something here."

“Yeah, Kupo, if you give me permanent diarrhea, I’ll probably hurt you. BAD. Just so you know,” He gave the human a grin. That wouldn’t have to be a problem for a moment, however, because Chris decided it was a good idea to gulp down something he hadn’t tried before. That was smart. He floated up into the air a moment later, just as Nex had, which gave the Moogle a very fun idea. He floated up, and then pushed the floating Chris, and giggled. “LINI! IT’S TIME TO PLAY!” He let out a maniacal laugh, and then flew far up into the air with the very-light Chris.

“Don’t worry, Kupo, you won’t die! HEY LINI, CATCH THIS!” and with that, the Moogle pulled Chris back and then threw him at Lini. Granted, it wasn’t very fast, but a game of Chris-ball would be fun, no matter what.

After Lini’s little ‘talk’ and Nex’s unnecessary mental imaging, Chris took it upon himself to try out one of his potions himself. A few seconds later, Chris went into the air, floating like a plastic bag in a windstorm. Lini took a second to look at the sight. “There are probably a lot of easier ways to be able to fly then with mystery potions, Kupo.” Lini commented.

Nex, however, saw a chance for fun and excitement, and decided that this new, floating Chris would make for an excellent ball to toss around. Nex took the floating Chris, went high into the air, and then tossed the human down to where Lini was. Lini stood there for a second and caught him without losing his step or balance.

“Come on, Kupo,” Lini said, letting Chris go back to float into the air, “We got more important things to do then toss our friends and allies around like so much sporting equipment.”

"Maybe, but this can be used by almost anyone." Chris said, then Nex decided to take advantage of the fact that Chris was essentially weightless and carried him up into the air, much faster than he could rise on his own. "Whoa, careful! Unless you want to test what happens if it runs out way up here!" Chris called out. Nex probably didn't care about that as the Moogle tossed Chris towards Lini. However, that didn't seem to go faster than he could.

Lini didn't seem interested in returning the favor, and let Chris go after catching him. A few seconds later, the potion's effect expired, and Chris started slowly drifting back down to the ground. After a second or so, as Chris was pretty close to the ground at that point, Chris had landed relatively softly on the ground, and the residual effect, no longer needed, slipped through his nose and mouth almost soundlessly, albeit tickling his nose in doing so.

"Yeah, anyway, it might be useful if, say, you're falling from high up." Chris said as he picked up the two potions he left on the ground, "It could serve as a sort of a parachute if used at the right time. Of course, if there is a limit to how far it keeps you from freefalling at the tail end of its duration, it would be good to carry an extra in case of that. Keep in mind that this is only the second level of the spell used here. I'm not sure if you'd even want to try the third one. Not until I can get someone else to try it."

Lini caught Chris, but didn’t feel the need to pass him back. Chris explained his theoretical uses of the potion. Nex nodded, and reached down for his phone, checking the time, and frowned. He hit a button on his remote, and the Mog-Chopper flew down. “Sorry, kupo, but it’s been too long without justice! We’ll keep in touch. Keep making those potions!” He started up the engines, and motioned for Lini to jump in. “send me a text when you find something new to try…I suppose I’ll be the one to do it,”

He let out a sigh, and prepared for takeoff. Soon, they would gone, for justice!

When Lini said that they had other things that they needed to take care of, he didn’t expect Nex to agree. He expected Nex to say that at the moment, nothing could be more important then tossing their friend around like an inflatable beach ball. But, much to Lini’s surprise, Nex agreed, saying it had been far too long since justice had been done.

That made more sense, it meant that Nex was still hyper, and was looking for some orphans to punch. Or he was hungry. Actually, it could mean one of a hundred different moods. But, the orphan thing seemed to be most likely.

“Well, Kupo,” Lini said as he was leaving, “It’s been fun, but we gotta go. See you in the future!”

With that, Lini hopped in the back of the Mog Chopper, and soon the Mog Squad was off on another grand adventure. There would probably be waffles involved.

Afterwards, Nex checked the time and saw that it was pretty much time to go. The fact that Nex called in his helicopter was a good indication. "I take it what happened around ten minutes ago wasn't enough for you, eh?" Chris said, "Anyway, have fun. See you guys later."

After the Moogles had left, Chris sat down and considered what to do next. Had they decided to stay a bit longer, he could have tested how far the potions would have let him drift down safely, with Lini there to catch him if it turned out that there was a limit to how far the stuff would cover his fall.

Chris decided to have a few more potions prepared, mostly just to use up the energy that would be regenerated within a night's rest anyway. Chris then headed off to see if things had calmed down a bit in Cosmo Canyon. It seemed that it was still a bit soon for that, so he headed westward. The nearest place where nothing seemed to be happening, at least nothing he would be involved in, was Junon.
